RITA ORLANDO

Rita Orlando is an architect with a long lasting experience in cultural projects, with a strong EU dimension, focused on local development working with different communities: from the beginning of her career, she’s been coordinating multidisciplinary teams and innovative projects with a significant cultural impact. Since 2013, she’s been contributing to the successful bidding process of the city of Matera as European Capital of culture 2019 and, from 2015 onward, she’s been responsible for the implementation and the management of the Open Design School project, one of the pillar of the candidacy and of the legacy of the ECoC year, based on design, peer learning and multidisciplinarity as a leverage for a new educational and economic paradigm. Currently she’s involved in DeuS project – a regional Vocational Educational Training (VET) project that aims to co-create a European-wide learning and training approach in design, critical thinking and entrepreneurship to find participatory, creative and cost-effective solutions to local challenges, by unlocking the potential of the cultural and creative sector.
